#Update 35 Let’s make a difference

As a campaign group we are now working out where things stand  - and what else might need to change for this scheme to have a genuinely positive impact on our neighbourhood.

What is SCAN’s role?

It seems the overwhelming majority of us want the site to be developed - but in the right way.

At the moment, St Christopher’s is unsightly, falling into disrepair and we’ve all had enough of the break-ins.

We want the site brought back to life.  But we think there's more work to be done.

Like you, SCAN wants a scheme which is sensitive to our neighbourhood.

It should;

  • be appropriate for our existing roads and environment,

  • protect the character of our conservation area,

  • respect families living nearby,

  • honour the site’s SEND legacy

  • and benefit the whole community - including our primary school and local businesses.

That is what we’ve been campaigning for the last 5 years.

We are also actively working with two SEND charities to help them secure a plot, as well as supporting Westbury Park Primary School and parents to campaign for some workable green space that our local children can enjoy and feel safe in.

It's now more important than ever that we all make use of this current consultation period to shape the future of the site, while the developers say they are listening. We can only make a difference if we voice our views.

During the initial consultation round in May, the community sent a clear message about its priorities - traffic congestion, site access, road safety and parking - as well as the height and density of proposed buildings.

Now it’s time to tell the developers if their latest plans meet our priorities.

We encourage you to let the developers know what YOU think.
